ZIMBABWE Women’s Soccer League chairperson Barbra Chikosi on Wednesday came out guns blazing and dismissed her suspension from the ZIFA board by the association’s  beleaguered president Felton Kamambo a day earlier.

Chikosi, who together with her Premier Soccer League counterpart Farai Jere were spared the axe by the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) when the regulatory body suspended the ZIFA board on November 16 last year, declared her ban by Kamambo as null and void.

The women’s football boss, Jere and board member competitions Sugar Chagonda were on Tuesday suspended by Kamambo from the ZIFA board, as the raging power and constitutional crisis at the association took another turn.

In a statement, Chikosi has since challenged Kamambo to prove the legality of the action he had taken against her.

“I would like to confirm that despite being an executive committee member, I was not invited to this meeting, and the meeting was not held as per the dictates of our constitution, which require a 14-day notice.

“The suspensions are therefore null and void,’’ she said.

The suspensions of Chikosi, Jere and Chagonda followed weekend bans on some ZIFA councillors, PSL chief executive officer Kenny Ndebele and the secretariat pair of Warriors team manager Wellington Mpandare and communications and competitions manager Xolisani Gwesela.

Chikosi accused Kamambo, board member finance Philemon Machana and the member in charge for development Bryton Malandule of making unilateral decisions in the administration of ZIFA.

“I have noted with great concern that three of my colleagues in the suspended ZIFA Executive Committee, namely Felton Kamambo, Philemon Machana and Bryton Malandule, have purportedly suspended ZIFA employees and officials at a meeting held on the 29th of January 2022,” she said.

“I also would like to distance myself from all the meetings that are said to have taken place after our suspension by the SRC on the 16th of November 2021.

“I would like to urge my colleagues in the suspended ZIFA Board to behave in a professional way and not these tendencies of dividing the football family.”

Chikosi has been crying foul about lack of support for women football from her colleagues in the ZIFA board
