FORMER Young Warriors winger Malvin Gaki has bid farewell to Chicken Inn as he prepares to switch to Ngezi Platinum Stars.

The 28-year-old player spent the last four years at the Gamecocks, but his form dipped during the 2021/2022 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, prompting the club to part ways with him when his contract expired at the end of last month.

The arrival of the highly rated Calum English-Brown, a tear-away winger who was groomed at Legends Academy before blossoming at relegated WhaWha, left Chicken Inn with no choice but to release Gaki.

The former Triangle star has since penned an emotional message in honour of Chicken Inn on his Facebook page.

“Today, I say goodbye to a magnificent club as it is Chicken Inn FC (sic). I want to thank the club for helping me become a better footballer, and for making me and my family feel at home during my time here,” wrote Gaki.

“After this year, I can only say thank you to the club, to the fans that have supported me since the first day I wore this jersey, and, of course, good luck to my teammates who helped me settle in since day one.

“Today, I say goodbye to Chicken Inn FC, but I take with me many memories, lessons and great moments that will live with me forever.

“It has been one of the best years of my football career.”

He is the latest player to leave Chicken Inn after midfielder Brett Amidu moved to Manica Diamonds.

The Gamecocks have, however, managed to retain key players such as goalkeeper Donovan Bernard, Richard Hachiro, Brian Muza, Xolani Ndlovu, Tafadzwa Kutinyu and seasoned campaigner Passmore Bernard.

Bustling striker Obriel Chirinda is also back at Chicken Inn.
