WICKETKEEPER-BATTER Regis Chakabva is set to lead the Chevrons during their three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Bangladesh.

This comes after regular skipper Craig Ervine has been rested for the series, which begins on Friday at Harare Sports Club.

Ervine continues to recuperate from a hamstring injury.

“Regis Chakabva will captain Zimbabwe in the three-match One-Day International series against Bangladesh, with regular skipper Craig Ervine sitting out as he looks to fully recuperate from the hamstring and knee niggles that he has been nursing,” said Zimbabwe Cricket in a statement.

“The hosts will also be without all-rounder Sean Williams, who has been granted permission by Zimbabwe Cricket to attend to some personal matters.”

While the veteran pair misses out, the duo of Takudzwanashe Kaitano and Tarisai Musakanda have been roped in as replacements.

Ervine and Williams look to be the only casualties of the three T20 series, as the rest of the squad have kept their place in Zimbabwe’s 15-man squad for the ODIs.

The two nations will lock horns in the first match on Friday at Harare Sports Club, after which the last two will be held on Sunday and Wednesday next week.

All three matches start at 9.15am at Harare Sports Club.
