WOMEN’S Coalition of Zimbabwe (WCZ) has challenged the media to stop perpetuating violence against women and girls through online and digital platforms.

Speaking at a press conference to launch commemorations of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Harare recently, WCZ media cluster lead, Ms Chioniso Rutsito, said online and digital spaces are being used to perpetrate violence against women through cyber-bullying.

“We have witnessed survivors of violence against women and girls being stripped of their dignity by continuous dissemination of their photos in vulnerability,” Ms Rutsito said.

She urged the online community to utilise digital spaces to protect women and girls.

“We urge the media to be gender-sensitive and kind in their coverage of media issues,” she added.
