BENJANI MWARUWARI takes charge of his 10th Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) match since his appointment as Ngezi Platinum Stars coach when the Mhondoro side host buoyant Highlanders at Baobab Stadium on Sunday.

Mwaruwari’s charges beat Bulawayo City 3-0 at Barbourfields Stadium on Saturday and go into this match hoping to build on a morale-boosting win that pushed Ngezi into sixth position.

The platinum miners are now on 28 points, four behind Manica Diamonds who occupy fourth position.

Mwaruwari has made it clear he is targeting a top-four finish despite some indifferent performances in recent matches.

The ex-Manchester City striker was unveiled at Ngezi Platinum Stars on March 29 and drew 1-1 against Bulawayo Chiefs at Luveve in his first match in charge.

He has so far managed three wins, four draws and two losses since taking over from Rodwell Dhlakama.

Overall, he has raked in 13 points out of a possible 27, translating to a 48 percent success rate.

Before the latest win at Barbourfields, his success rate stood at just over 41 percent.

The former Warriors skipper is now hoping to build on last weekend’s result as he braces for a tough encounter against Highlanders.

Bosso will travel to Mhondoro on the back of two consecutive wins against Harare City and Black Rhinos.

Brazilian gaffer Baltemar Jose De Oliveria Brito took charge of his first PSL match when Highlanders beat Black Rhinos 3-2 in a thriller at Barbourfields last Sunday.

“We are well within our targets at the moment. We need to improve on some aspects of our game,” said Mwaruwari.

Ngezi Platinum Stars were promoted into the league in 2016 and have finished in the top four in the last three seasons.
