A MINUTE of silence will be observed during this year’s Axis Super8 Cup final between Simba Bhora and Golden Eagles in honour of the late footballer, Barnabas Mushunje.

Mushunje, who played for Simba Bhora, died in a car accident along the Harare-Shamva road on June 7.

He was 24.

The talented midfielder, who also played for Ngezi Platinum Stars and Dynamos, will certainly be missed by Simba Bhora, who clash with Golden Eagles in the Axis Super8 Cup final later this year.

Notably, the late footballer was named Axis Super8 Cup man of the match on two occasions.

“As Axis Solutions, we are with you (Mushunje family) in mourning and will observe a minute of silence during the Axis Super8 Cup final later this year in memory of Mushunje and his contribution to Zimbabwe football,” reads a statement by Axis Solutions.

“Only recently, Mushunje carried our brand forward after he was named the Axis Super8 Cup man of the match twice during the Axis Super8 Cup knockout stages.”

He was buried at his rural home in Bocha on June 10.
