One person needed at least $27 298 to buy both food and non-food items in September, marginally up from $26 623 a month earlier, according to the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStat).

This comes as month-on-month inflation sharply declined to 3,5 percent in September from 12,4 percent in August, as price stability persists in response to a number of Government measures.

In its latest report, ZimStat said: “The Total Consumption Poverty Line (TCPL) for Zimbabwe stood at $27 297,53 per person in September 2022.

“This means that an individual required that much to purchase both non-food and food items as at September 2022 in order not to be deemed poor.

“This represents an increase of 2,5 percent when compared to the August 2022 figure of $26 622,83.”
