OVER 200 000 hectares have been put under cotton during the 2024-25 summer cropping season following the timeous distribution of inputs across the country.

According to official statistics, 2 900 737 kgs of seed have been distributed, along with 8 293 230 kgs of basal fertiliser and 2 106 300 kgs of lime.

In an interview, Agriculture and Rural Advisory Services acting chief director Mr Leonard Munamati said inputs are reaching farmers in all provinces.

“The timely distribution of inputs is critical for a successful cotton season,” said Mr Munamati.

“We are working closely with input suppliers and extension officers to ensure that farmers receive the necessary support and that the distribution process is efficient and reaches all targeted areas.”

The distribution of inputs is being carried out by various contractors, including Alliance, Agri Value Chain, Cottco, Southern Cotton Company and Zimbabwe Cotton Consortium.

These contractors are responsible for reaching farmers in different regions across the country.
