SIXTEEN (16) Vehicle Inspectorate Department (VID) depots have been equipped with systems that allow prospective drivers to take their provisional driver’s licence tests electronically, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development has said.

The Electronic Learners Licence Test (ELLT) system was introduced in 2019 to eliminate corruption.

Gwanda VID is the latest depot to go live.

Before introduction of the system, there was rampant corruption at depots, as there were merchants who would write multiple papers on behalf of paying clients.

Government continues to digitise its processes and services, including the recently introduced electronic passport.
