Sportsperson Glady Murisa, the mother of former national soccer team footballer, Stewart, has died.

Murisa passed away on Friday at the age of 58. While her son’s star shone in the green and white colours of Caps United, Gladys was a sportsperson in her own right.

The netball player featured for the national team and Chitungwiza-based club — St Marys’ Queens in the ‘80s. At the time of her death Murisa had been coaching 2:1 Brigade netball team in Chitungwiza.

Stewart — the 1996 Soccer Star of the year — said, “She was not well since December last year. She, however, had gotten to a stage of at times not being able to walk or talk. And at the moment we are not sure what was the cause of her death as she passed on when the medical test results weren’t out.” Mourners are gathered at 1432 Katanga Road in St Marys. The late netball coach will be buried at Murisa Village in Seke.

She is survived by seven children.
