Mzi Khumalo bounces back as Metallon chair

PROMINENT South African businessman Mr Mzi Khumalo has bounced back as non-executive chairman of Metallon Corporation, the parent company of five gold producing mines in Zimbabwe – Shamwa, Redwing, How mine, Mazowe and Arcturus.

Mr Khumalo will replace Sir Nicholas Bonsor who has served the company in that role since March 2011.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Metallon Corporation also indicated that Mr Robert Robertson, who has also served the company since March 2011 as non-executive director, will be replaced by former SADC executive secretary Dr Tomaz Salomão.

Mr Khumalo will be tasked with “developing corporate strategy and advising the company through its next stage of growth.

Metallon, which also has exploration assets in Tanzania and the DRC, is presently focussed on expansion projects of its mining assets in Zimbabwe.
