THE late sports journalist Paul Mundandi is set to be buried at Zororo Cemetery near Chitungwiza today.

Mundandi (47) died on Friday at Zvishavane District Hospital.

Weeks before his death the Zvishavane based journalist had gone public with his prediction that FC Platinum would win this year’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title.

Pure Platinum Play hailed the work of Mundandi.

“FC Platinum would like to convey its condolences to the Mundandi family and the journalism industry on the passing of Paul Saul Mundandi, a seasoned and creative journalist who will be greatly missed. May his dear soul rest in eternal peace,” said the club in a statement.

Well known Dynamos fan Chris “Romario” Musekiwa recalled a heated debate he had with the late Mundandi over his prediction that Pure Platinum Play will be the 2017 champions.

“He tasked me to give me five good reasons why I didn’t agree with his prediction and as usual we had a massive debate. Mundandi just like he lived, reckons The Sunday Mail’s sports editor Makomborero Mutimukulu.

“Pauli my guy, you died just like you lived. There was always an element of surprise about you. Harare today, Chiredzi tomorrow and Zvishavane the day after. Where (are) you at now? Heaven I guess! Ko paZvish manje ndodii? Ndiweka waiketa every corner. . .hahaha boss Mako mirai apa…mirai muwone yatakuda kuita,” posted Mutimukulu on Facebook.

Mundandi is survived by his wife Miriam and four year old daughter Mercy Tavonga.
