A blessed Mothers Day to you all the mothers of Zimbabwe. I want to take this opportunity to bless all the mothers and share a special word of encouragement: A society without mothers is a barbaric society. For that reason, the first institution to be instituted needed to have a mother.

Only after the mother was added, do we see the first picture of what we have come to call family (Gen 2).

Mothers are especially gifted as incubators that recognise and develop talent and potential.

Each of us today is a product of the encouragement and support that only mothers can provide. Mothers are divinely equipped to influence their children in the fear of the Lord, thereby making a wholesome and substantial contribution to human society. For that reason, God needed Mary, to nurture our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

On this day we want to appreciate and recognise the important role that mothers have played, as character-constructors and as the chief soul-moulders to nurture the many sons and daughters, in Zimbabwe and in the diaspora, men and women that walk in the fear of God and have moulded Zimbabwe into the peace loving nation that it is. Happy Mothers Day.

Amongst the continents on the islands,

Or near ancient ruins

Women you are beautiful

Today marks a special day

Salutations and applause to you

Life givers!

Again adulation and applause

For the continual child nurturing

Family rearing

In-spite of our socio-political hardships

Victimisation and abuse

Stand strong and celebrate

Today marks a great day of

Glory!

For you perseverance

Your wanted and or unwanted pregnancies

The anguish and hurt

It does not matter the story

It does not matter the dark

Today makes a reckoning our day of

Light!

Woman you are a blessing

From generation to generation

Do not be defeated

Never defeated

Always remember you are God’s gift to mankind

Happy Mother’s Day!

Today the world over celebrates the unsung heroines who make the world go round. These are the pillars of the community and the soul of the family.

The best gift to every human being ever born.

What would the world do without a mother? A mother’s love is priceless , a mothers touch is therapeutic, a mother’s advice will save the day.

A mother’s presence comforts the distressed , sweet mother I will never forget. She gives and gives never expecting to get anything in return.

A mother’s love is genuine , eternal, selfless and her friendship is permanent. A mother loves from the womb to the tomb, she cares from the crib to the grave and she listens from sunrise to sunset.

Who can compare a mother’s love. Her eyes interpret better than a stethoscope. It’s befitting to take time to cherish and honour motherhood.

Though this must be done throughout the year today is a day set apart to creatively find ways to salute our mothers both living and departed. We are grateful to all mothers and we say happy Mother’s Day.

Indeed, rudo rwaMwari rwakaita kuti ndirarame.

Mothers. When we hear the word mother we feel peace because we know that a mother represents comfort, she represents safety and a sense of camaraderie. We know that our mothers are there when we most need them. They love us regardless of who we are and what we have done. Mothers represent a confidante, a problem solver, she is able to micro and macro manage our dilemmas our confusions. Yes, she is wonder woman.

At the beginning of the day we talk to her. We know that she will encourage us to face whatever the day may bring and at the end of the day we call her to catch up with news. She will fill our head with possibilities and ideas and encourages us to press on because as far as she is concerned we are the best. She knows that our lives will unravel in the best possible way. She is patient with our yesterdays, gives us the thumbs up for today and fills our mind with hope for a bigger and better tomorrow. As her children we love her unconditionally because we have the best example in her. Yes, what would we do without our mothers.
