THERE was glitz and glamour at the Bulawayo leg of Miss Tourism Zimbabwe pageant held at Rainbow Bulawayo Hotel on Saturday July 7 2018.

The fully subscribed event attracted the who-is-who in showbiz and business from the City of Kings and Queens. The pageant, a red carpet event, was attended by former beauty queens Samantha Tshuma and Sibusisiwe Dube who showed up in show stopping designs.

The event’s electrifying atmosphere was made even better by the incredibly humorous comedian-cum-entrepreneur, Babongile Skhonjwa, who had guests captivated and in a celebratory mood. Skhonjwa was the emcee on the night.

Djembe Monks and Simunye Simunye thrilled guests with their tribal house and traditional musical theatrical pieces.

It was down to the wire as the judges faced a peculiar case of splitting hairs, as they narrowed their selection from 22 to five finalists. However, the night clearly belonged to Anelisiwe Ndebele, who was crowned queen. Closely followed by first Princess Sibusisiwe Falala and second Princess Tendai Sibanda.

“I am excited at seeing the calibre of models we have attracted from across Zimbabwe for this edition of Miss Tourism Zimbabwe pageant. The finale will be all fireworks, so Zimbabweans should not miss the show,” said Sarah Mpofu-Sibanda, the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe Executive Director and licence holder.

The Bulawayo leg was the last of the 10 provincial searches for the finalists who are set to compete at the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe finale to be held in Bulawayo on the September 8 2018.
