Upcoming musician Janet Manyowa owes her inspiration to renowned gospel diva Shingisai Suluma, it has emerged.

Having begun her career singing in the Celebration Choir eight years ago, Manyowa is enjoying a purple patch as two of her songs Ndomira Pamuri and Tarisa are rocking on the airwaves on the top 20 Star Fm Gospel Greats chart.

Last Sunday, Ndomira Pamuri was on position 5 as Tarisa dropped three places to 15 . Manyowa recorded her first single titled Amazing God in 2014.

Amai Suluma, who is now based in United States has played a central role in inspiring her career and Manyowa has taken one or two lessons in how the gospel diva does her things.

“I can safely say that I got my inspiration from Shingisai Suluma, she is the one who motivated me.

“The way she arranges her music and the messages in her songs really motivated me,” she said with poise.

Manyowa’s album launch is scheduled for June and the favourable responses that her songs are receiving on the airwaves are serving as an encouragement.

“I have recorded three songs at the moment, and all of them are doing well on radio and I am also pleased to say that people received them well.

“This motivated me and I then started working on my debut album which I will be launching next month,” the budding gospel musician said. Manyowa said that the debut album will feature tracks like King of Glory, Amazing God, Ndomira Pamuri and Tarisa among others.

Manyowa revealed that the Holy Spirit and the Bible inspires her on the composition of her songs. “All my songs are an inspiration from the Holy Spirit and also from the Bible. I am a messenger who only brings the word of God to the people through songs,” she added. Manyowa, who is managed by her husband Munyaradzi, applauded her family and fans for the support that she is receiving.

“I really wish to thank my husband, my two children Matipa and Waishe for their unrelenting support. I could not have been here if it was not for them. Not forgetting also my fans who are always behind me, I really appreciate,” said the mother of two who is a qualified accountant. While she acknowledged the rise of many musicians as a positive development, Manyowa bemoaned the lack of depth in some of the productions which she said were being hurried.

“The important thing that I have learnt so far in music is that one should take his or her time when preparing anything for human consumption. Quality is very important! Our music seems to be stagnant because artists are just rushing to recording studios and I think this is destroying our music,” lamented Manyowa.
