Man kills dad, mutilates body

A Nyamandlovu man allegedly strangled his father before dismembering the body and leaving it in a maize field.

Police are hunting for Effort Nothoenhle Dube (29), who was heard shouting in a high-pitched voice: “I want to kill my father!”

He allegedly killed Makhosi King Dube (69) in cold blood and cut off his tongue, as well as his arms, and left his genitals hanging loosely.

The motive behind the attack is yet to be established.

A villager who requested not to be named and stays at Seafield Estate village in Nyamandlovu said he heard Effort shouting that he wanted to kill his father.

“I took that lightly as I thought he was under the influence of booze,” said the neighbour, who appeared to have goosebumps at the recollection.

The villager said while he was warming himself by the fireplace at his homestead in the evening, he heard the same words again: “I want to kill him today!”

He said he ignored the threat again and retired to bed. The following day, around 6am, the neighbour went to check on Dube’s father at his home, but could not find him. Upon checking around his yard, he stumbled on his lifeless body in the maize field.

“When I looked closely at the body, shock gripped me as I discovered that the tongue had been cut off and his arms had been chopped off and were missing. The genitals had been cut and left hanging loosely,” said the shaken source.

He said there were scratch marks around the elderly man’s neck.

Effort has not been seen in the village since the killing.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and said: “Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect should contact investigations officer Constable Ndlovu on 0718001209 or Nyamandlovu police station on 0292-821306 or call Bulawayo offices on 029-60358 or reach out to any station.”

He said anyone with information on the matter and wishes to remain anonymous can convey it through any police suggestion box. — B-Metro

Goat rapist

escapes jail term

It is common knowledge that you will spend a number of years behind bars if you are found guilty of raping a human being.

But does the law apply in the same manner to animal rapists?

Although animal cruelty is a chargeable offence, a 20-year-old man from Godlwayo village 3 in Esigodini district, Matabeleland South province, was lucky to escape a prison term after he was convicted of raping a goat, which reportedly died during the act, apparently due to exhaustion.

Mthandazo Ndlovu appeared before Esigodini resident magistrate Nomagugu Sibanda, charged with two counts of bestiality as defined in Section 74 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.

He pleaded guilty to both counts and was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment, of which six were suspended for three years on condition he is not convicted of any offence linked to bestiality within that period.

The remaining 12 months were suspended on condition Ndlovu completes 420 hours of community service at Godlwayo Primary School.

The court proved that Ndlovu performed an act that would make “any right-thinking member of society sick to their stomach” when he raped Brighton Nkomo’s goat to death before he was caught red-handed romping with Luckson Mkandla’s goat.

Both Nkomo and Mkandla are from Ntabende village in Esigodini.

On October 28, 2022, around 10pm, Ndlovu, who was employed at Phat Ore Mine, went to Nkomo’s homestead and upon arrival, he entered his goat pen.

While inside, he had sex with one of his female goats. It is reported that the goat died after the act.

The following morning, Nkomo went to the pen and found one of his female goats dead, with some semen on its rear.

Nkomo tracked a footprints trail from the goat pen and it led him to Ndlovu’s home.

It is reported that on October 31, 2022, around 3am, Ndlovu went to Mkandla’s homestead and upon arrival, he got into his goat pen.

He then raped a female goat. Out of pain, the goat bleated continuously, prompting Mkandla to wake up.

He stealthily moved to the goat pen and switched on his torch. He was shocked to find Ndlovu having sex with one of his female goats.

Ndlovu fled naked, leaving behind his clothes. Mkandla, who had recognised Ndlovu, then went to the police to report the matter, leading to the culprit’s arrest.

The clothes were used in court as exhibits. — B-Metro
