The Warriors head coach, Zdravko Logarusic, has named a 28-man provisional squad for the 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) to be hosted by Cameron from April 4-21.

The squad is expected to hold its training camp from March 8-18.

Logarušić, who was unveiled as Warriors head coach last month, embarked on nationwide tour meeting the top flight teams as part of his selection process in which engaged head coaches.

The Croat revealed that he had to use a common denominator selection process  to pick the squad since  the Premier Soccer league is still in its off-season.

“I was depending on the coaches I spoke to, former national team coaches and current national team coaches. I spoke with about seven coaches, and each coach gave me a list of 24 players, each coach separately.

“Then I put together a list of 20 players, the players who were chosen most from the list by coaches, and few of them I took by myself.

“Each coach would choose two players for the same position separately and then each coach submitted, so the most common names for each position was chosen.

“If all coaches are saying one player is good he should be good this is what I did,” said Logarusic.

Simbarashe Chinani, Ian Nekati, Prince Dube and Partson Jaure have been part of the regular Afcon squad which upset Zambia 1-2 victory at the Heroes Stadium last November.

Recently promoted Cranborne Bullets’ midfielder, Kelvin Chibhunyu, is one of the many debutants called for camp.

The Zimbabwe Warriors will play hosts Cameroon on April 4 in the tournament opener before they make a date with Mali and Burkina Faso.
