Divine Beginners Junior School pupils last week went on a tour of the country that took them to Kariba via Chinhoyi Caves.

The three-day trip showcased the school’s interest in ensuring their pupils know about Zimbabwe.

“As a school we have intentions to make our pupils know about the world and we will take them to many places and countries of interest in the world.

“But before they know southern Africa, before they know Africa as a whole, before they travel to America or China or to any of the other international destination, we want them to know Zimbabwe,” said one of their directors, Mrs Mandizvidza.

“Zimbabwe is their country and it is home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, The Victoria Falls. Kariba is the largest man-made dam in the world. Chinhoyi Caves are still a world enigma — I can go on because Zimbabwe has many of these wonders that people from all over the world board planes to come and see and they pay a lot of money for that.

“It is sad to note that many people grow into adults without visiting these tourist attractions in our own country. We do not want our pupils to join this list of unfortunate Zimbabweans so we always plan for them to experience the beauty and joys of these places.

“We have taken them to Vic Falls by air, we have been to Mazvikadei, Mwanga, Kuimbashiri, Lion and Cheetah Park, Lake Chivero, to mention but a few and their knowledge and understanding of their country has deepened,” she said.

She added that now their pupils are ready to cross the border and they plan to go to Durban (South Africa) next year.

The Divine Junior pupils were awed by the mighty Kariba Dam wall and they also got to the ZTA View Point and saw the huge mass of water from there. The pupils also went for a Game drive, travelled to Croco Farm and went on a Boat Cruise in what was a memorable time in their young lives.

They also got to Kariba Heights and Binga Wave to conclude their time in Kariba.

“Before Kariba we had gone to Chinhoyi Caves were they saw the caves and also some Lions and other animals. We had a great time,” said Mrs Mandizvidza.
