SCHOOLS countrywide reopened on Monday January 9. At Bradford Private School, the first week of the new term was exciting as we reconnected with teachers and fellow learners.

The first day was awesome, as we saw new faces. I met learners of different races. Our hospitality made the new learners feel at home instantly. We made new friends and spent long hours sharing our holiday experiences.

We, however, should not lose sight of our main goal — to pass with flying colours and earn prestige as individuals, as well as a school. To ensure this happens, we have to shun the spirit of idleness that was among us during the Christmas holiday, and concentrate on our studies. We need to adjust and get into the mood of learning as soon as possible. We should bear in mind that education is the gateway to success.

Work at secondary school can be difficult but with the help from our teachers, we will make it. As Bradford Private School learners, we pledge to help raise the standards of the institution. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. We have started ours and believe we can scale to dizzy heights.

Books and teachers are now our closest allies.
