When it comes to promoting comedy shows on the local entertainment scene, Xtratime Entertainment is as big as it gets.

Since coming on the scene a few years ago, the promotional company has managed lift the bar high in the industry, smashing records one gig at a time.

Back in 2016, they scored a first after hosting a sold out show headlined by Ugandan comedian Anne Kansiime at the iconic HICC.

This year they are planning something even bigger with the Sekerera Harare International Comedy Festival on the cards.

The festival to be held from the 7th to the 9th of August in Harare will feature top international and local comedians. It is set to be an annual event.

“The festival will have Zimbabwean comedians as well as those from other parts of the world,” said Xtratime Entertainment director Tongai Mbidzo.

“Negotiations with targeted international comedians have started with the line-ups and program set to be released in due course.”

While August might seem to be a bit far, the organisers have promised to give fans monthly shows as a buildup to the main event.

“As a build up to the festival, a series of comedy shows with local and international comedians will be hosted monthly, continuing what Xtratime Entertainment has been doing in the past.”

He added that they were confident of pulling off a successful festival considering the vast experience they have gained over the years.

“We are experienced in the comedy game and it’s high time we level up by planting an annual permanent smile on Zimbabweans, hence the festival’s name ‘Sekerera’.”

Xtratime Entertainment has hosted notable comedy events with the likes of Anne Kansiime, Barry Hilton, John Vlismas, Alfred Kainga, Carl Joshua Ncube, Q Dube, Long John, Doc Vikela and Farhan Esat to name just a few comics gracing their stages.
