INDIVIDUAL success depends on one’s ability to manage relationships with others.

We are created to be interdependent, therefore, you can never form pathways that exclude fellow human beings.

Even if you decide to relocate to another planet, you still need a spaceship created by others. Similarly, you will also need to carry food produced by others.

Thus, you can never exist in isolation.

Generally, success in life hinges on our understanding of other people and navigating through their various attitudes and behaviours.

This is where emotional intelligence becomes paramount.

We all need this kind of astuteness that helps us to understand ourselves first and to have compassion for other people’s feelings.

Individual journeys that we traverse daily are as a result of help from others.

It is imperative that you learn and know how best to make good use of other people to achieve personal key objectives.

Sometimes you can only drive your life forward by first propelling others in the same direction.

However, you can only understand and appreciate others if you have come to a place of self-awareness –where you understand the way you think, how you feel and regulate your emotions.

People are different in many aspects hence it is important to understand the emotions of those around you.

Character and behaviour differs with every individual just like we all have different fingerprints.

But there are collective ethical codes that can be universally applied to place people in categories.

The only common thing about people is that they have nothing in common when it comes to behaviour and character.

Psychologists have categorised people into groups that include challengers, peacemakers, investigators, helpers, achievers, reformers, individualists and loyalists.

The challengers always take charge of their environment. They make use of any opportunity to play the hero and exhibit their strengths even by trying to save others.

This group enjoys being society’s hero and getting positive talk about their action. In short, they want people to look up to them for inspiration.

Peacemakers will do everything in their power to evade conflict.

These people allow themselves to be subjected to unpleasant treatments and they remain calm to preserve peace. Nonetheless, this group of people is often susceptible to abuse and are often taken advantage of.

Then there are the investigators, who by nature are introverts.

When they discover something wrong, they prefer to keep quiet and rather write about it than been vocal.

The helpers tend to be very sociable and friendly with almost everyone they come across. They genuinely desire to see others flourish and can do anything in their power to assist in other people’s success.

These people are selfless, altruistic and sincere.

However, their sincerity and desire to constantly help others often result in them being taken advantaged of.

Achievers are known to be energetic, ambitious and highly driven for advancement. This group of people is extremely devoted to their work. They do not miss deadlines and they work according to plan.

They rarely miss self-set targets and work hard to create an impression in others for themselves. Achievers often mind what people think about them such that they are likely to make decisions based on public opinion.

We also have reformers that strive to improve the world around them. They are endowed in wisdom, discernment, realism and nobility.

They are very strict individuals and normally have a very keen sense of right and wrong. They tend to be very judgmental and very ethical.

The individualist is that one who is not bothered by social trends and what the world is doing in other forms of entertainment and social scenes.

This person focuses more on developing complex skills and ideas. In the category, we have geniuses who are always insightful and curious to question and to provide answers.

Loyalists are a committed type of people who would rather choose comfort and security than to create their own way to success.

They are reliable, dependable, responsible and trustworthy as they push other people’s affairs and agendas as their own.

Understanding these personalities and why you and other people behave in particular ways can help you improve your professional and personal relationships.
