I’m more than looks: Halle Berry Halle Berry

Halle Berry is looking forward to being valued for more than her looks as she ages.

The 58-year-old actress, who has two children, is not worried about her beauty fading because praise for her appearance has always been a “hollow win”.

She believes she has much more to offer the world.

Berry said: “I have always known that I am more than this face and more than this body. So when that starts to go, maybe for the first time in my life, people will focus on the other aspects of me that I think are way more interesting.”

She added: “It might feel good to have everybody look at you, but it has always been a hollow win for me because I had nothing to do with how I came here looking.”

The “Bruised” star, who is in a relationship with musician Van Hunt, believes women are judged more unfairly than men and vowed to fight against ageism.

“Age is just a number that they stick on us at birth. As women, we get defined by it way more than men do, and sometimes it can debilitate us. It can trick us into thinking what we are supposed to do.

“We have to kick that in the face and say, no, I am going to do what I can do as long as I feel good doing it! And that will be whatever I want it to be. I get to define that,” she said.

As she has gotten older, Halle has grown in confidence and no longer feels she has to impress people. — Wires

 Nicki Minaj slams Jay-Z

A recent controversy in the hip-hop world has erupted over Kendrick Lamar’s selection as the halftime performer for Super Bowl LIX.

Many fans and fellow artistes, including Nicki Minaj, are questioning why Lil Wayne, who hails from New Orleans, the host city, did not receive the coveted spot.

Jay-Z, the co-producer of the Super Bowl halftime show, is at the centre of the dispute.

Some speculate that his decision to choose Lamar over Wayne is motivated by personal grudges, such as a long-standing feud with Birdman, Wayne’s mentor.

Others suggest that the decision may be influenced by Jay-Z’s past conflicts with other artistes, including Minaj and Drake.

Minaj has been vocal in her criticism of Jay-Z’s choice, accusing him of “punishing” Wayne for his associations with Birdman and other artistes.

She has also highlighted Wayne’s significant contributions to the hip-hop industry and his mentorship of Minaj herself.

The controversy has reignited old tensions between various artistes and industry figures, raising questions about loyalty, fairness and the politics of the music business. — Wires

Justin Timberlake pleads guilty

Pop star Justin Timberlake (43) has reached a plea deal in his driving under the influence (DUI) case.

He was arrested in Sag Harbour, New York, in June.

Prosecutors and Timberlake’s lawyer reportedly agreed to drop the initial DUI charge.

Instead, Timberlake will plead guilty to driving while ability impaired (DWAI), a less severe offence.

Sources told the media that he will face a fine between US$300 and US$500, with the exact amount finalised at a court hearing.

Despite the plea deal, Timberlake’s driver’s licence will be suspended in New York for refusing a breathalyser test during the arrest.

This is a standard one-year penalty for such cases.

Timberlake’s lawyer, Edward Burke Jr, previously denied the DUI charge and requested dismissal of the case, citing potential officer errors.

The arrest occurred after Timberlake dined with friends in The Hamptons.

According to a source, police often target late-night departures from restaurants suspecting potential drunk driving.

Timberlake reportedly claimed to have had “one martini” before driving home.

Police reports, however, stated that he disregarded a stop sign and failed to maintain his lane. — Wires
