JUBILANT Herentals players were joined by scores of fans who stormed the pitch at Luveve in celebration of their victory over Bulawayo Chiefs yesterday which helped them survive relegation on the last day and ensure their third dance with the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

The visiting side who arrived late for the match after their bus broke down along the way, got the goal that mattered the most via the boot of Kelvin Bingala in the 25th minute.

Chiefs coach Thulani Sibanda, whose side also escaped the chop despite yesterday’s loss, blamed his players for failing to take the game from their opponents.

“It was a very poor performance considering the way we were playing the past games.

“Failing to win against Herentals was very disappointing. I don’t know what was in the boys’ minds but they didn’t apply themselves in this game, which is unusual of them,” he said.

His opposite number Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva hailed his charges for their fighting spirit.

“I liked the attitude of the players and their fighting spirit they really wanted to stay in the Premier.

“They showed their talent and zeal to win this match. Chief also really wanted to win this match as shown by their dejection and over and above all it was an exciting and contested match,” he said.
