Harry Maguire has reportedly told friends he will not be forced out of Manchester United after a bomb threat forced his home to be evacuated.

The England international had police and sniffer dogs turn up to his home after the email threat, which came in the aftermath of United’s 4-0 Premier League defeat at Liverpool. Extensive searches were carried out on the property, where Maguire lives with his partner and their two daughters.

“The safety of his family and those around him is obviously Harry’s number one priority,” a spokesman for Maguire said at the time. “He will continue to prepare for this weekend’s fixture as normal and we will not be commenting in any further detail at this time.”

Now, according to The Sun, Maguire has confided in friends that he will not let the actions of one “cowardly fan” force him out. “If that proves to be the case [that a fan was responsible], they are an utter disgrace to the name of this proud football club,” a source told the publication.

Maguire was spotted arriving at Man United training on Thursday as the Red Devils prepare for their weekend trip to Arsenal. Ralf Rangnick’s side sit three points behind their fifth-placed opponents, having played a game more.

Arsenal pulled clear of United by beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night. However, they lost the reverse fixture at Old Trafford back in December with Cristiano Ronaldo’s second-half penalty settling a 3-2 win for the Red Devils.

As United fell to another heavy defeat against Liverpool, pundit Graeme Souness laid bare Maguire’s strengths and limitations. The £80m defender was also involved in the home game against the Reds when Mohamed Salah’s hat-trick gave the visitors a 5-0 win.

“Yeah for sure, like you say that was such a low point, the lowest point of the season, one of the lowest points of my career, and I’m sure the rest of the lads’, without international football involved in that,” Maguire told Sky Sports when asked about that Old Trafford reverse. However, the former Leicester man was powerless to keep Jurgen Klopp’s side at bay at Anfield, with Salah scoring two more.

“He has got qualities, he is good on the ball and good in the air,” Souness said on Sky Sports. “He reads the game okay, he is not the quickest and it is very easy to look at Manchester United and put all the results down to your defending.”

“It has been a tough season for the team and Harry,” former Man Utd captain Roy Keane added. “I have said it many times, you are going to lose football matches this season, but United have not shown enough pride when losing.” – Mirror
