THE Grain Marketing Board is scouting for suppliers of poly woven storage bags for collection and storage of grain from the 2017/18 cropping season.

Government is keen to avoid last year’s challenges of a shortage of storage bags.

Last year, GMB collected more than two million tonnes of maize and storage was a headache.

According to the latest Government Gazette, “Tenders are invited from reputable and eligible bidders for the supply and delivery of 110 gsm poly woven storage bags.

“Details of the tender shall be obtained in the Invitation to Tender document obtainable from the Grain Marketing Board head office.”

Prolonged dry spells affected this year’s yield which was projected at over 2. 2 million tonnes but Government has assured the nation that the carry over from last year’s harvest will guarantee food security.
