ZIMBABWE will join more than 90 countries to celebrate the annual Global Outreach Day which is set for the end of this month.

In partnership with Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe, Every Home for Christ, Youth for Christ, among other denominations this year’s commemorations will run under the theme “Everyone can reach someone-together we can reach the world”.

A brainchild of a German national, May 30 has been set aside to spread the gospel to as many individuals as possible.

Spokesperson of the local steering committee Pastor George Biswick said preparations for the commemorations are at an advanced stage.

“The final meeting for the event is on this Tuesday at the Presbyterian church. We are expecting pastors and church leaders to come.

“We will however use that day to visit various institutions such as prisons and orphanages distributing Bible materials,” Pastor Biswick said.

In a statement, event chairperson Dr Zwangendaba Mutsemi said the priority of the church should be to preach the gospel as Jesus Christ assigned.

“Jesus Christ gave His Church a strategy to achieve this goal. . . and the strategy begins with the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

“It is with this realisation that Zimbabwean church leaders and pastors across racial, ethnic and denominational lines are coming together to make May 30 2015 a great day of harvest for the Kingdom of God,” added Dr Mustemi.

He also highlighted that the G.O.D is not a one day event but should be a Christian lifestyle.

“The Global Outreach Day is not just a one day event, it will invariably create a momentum of evangelism and soul winning that lingers beyond one particular date.

“Internationally, the Global Outreach Day has received endorsements from reputable Christian and missionary organisations like Global Day of Prayer, Christ for All Nations, World Evangelical Alliance, Redeemed Church of Christ, Worldwide Pentecostal Fellowship and Campus Crusade, among others.”

Dr Mutsemi encouraged maximum participation quoting from author and American pastor; Rick Warren, “There aren’t enough missionaries to solve all the issues in the world. But there is an army of believers, sitting in our churches, waiting to be mobilised. Ordinary people, empowered by God can make a difference together, wherever they are.

“If we can figure out a way to turn an audience into an army, to turn consumers into contributors, to turn spectators into participators, it will change the world.”
