The ruling FRELIMO of Mozambique’s Secretary General and presidential candidate Mr Daniel Chapo has emphasised preserving and celebrating Africa’s rich heritage.

Mr Chapo expressed this view when he toured the Museum of African Liberation in Harare today, as part of his visit to Zimbabwe during which he met President Mnangagwa yesterday.

He said his visit set the stage for a renewed partnership between Zimbabwe and Mozambique, grounded in a shared vision for the liberation and prosperity of the African continent.

During the tour, Mr Chapo said: “The inseparable bond between Zimbabwe and Mozambique shows the need for solidarity and collaboration as we progress with these monumental projects.

“We express our commitment to expediting the construction of the Samora Machel Monument, which holds a symbolic position next to the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Heritage Monument along Samora Machel Avenue.”

Institute of African Knowledge chief executive officer Ambassador Kwame Muzawazi said:” The Museum of African Liberation is more than just a physical structure. It is a bridge that connects the historical, cultural and educational aspects of Africa.”

He said Mr Chapo’s visit to Zimbabwe served as a poignant reminder of the African people’s shared history, struggles and aspirations.
