CASHEL Valley Irrigation Scheme, which was ravged by Cyclone Ida which hit Chimanimani and Chipinge areas early last year is fast returning to life with increased production.

The project is being resuscitated by the District Development Fund (DDF) and is now 60 percent functional up from 30 percent with the plan being to bring it to full throttle by 2020.

Located in Chimanimani on 361 hectares, Cashel Valley is one of the best run irrigation schemes.

DDF director of water supplies and maintenance, Mr Edwin Toriro said significant progress has so far been made to resscuscitate the massive irrugation scheme.

The irrigation schemes support 361 households who grow tomatoes, peas, sugar beans, maize, wheat, potatoes and cabbages.
