Namibia is a land close to my heart.
Itai??i??s not its otherworldly desert landscapes, or how its dunes roll right up to the Atlantic Ocean. Itai??i??s not about its easy-going people and the fact that it probably has the only capital city in Africa named after a beer. (I know some will contend that the beer was named after the city, whatever.)
Rather itai??i??s something almost intangible, perhaps related to its history of struggle.
Namibia endured the first genocide of the 20th century, a massacre of an entire population that is under-reported despite it being the precursor to the Holocaust ai??i?? maybe because blacks are children of a lesser god.
Zimbabwe has suffered, too, and that could be a reason for this bond I have with Namibia.
So I follow developments in that sister republic quite closely; watching its succession issues as much as Zimbabweai??i??s, as frustrated by the Brave Warriorsai??i?? failures as I am about our own beloved Warriors.
One news report in particular caught my attention this past week.
It was about Namibiaai??i??s Supreme Court upholding a High Court decision that the government compensate three HIV-positive women who were forcibly sterilised.
The women were sterilised between 2005 and 2007. And since then many other women all over the world have come forward to say they, too, were made infertile without their informed consent.
Forced sterilisation has a colourful history, probably pre-dating Malthusian ideas on population control and feeding into eugenics and racism.
It is a sordid business, one which is pretty difficult to justify.
My condolences to the poor women who have endured this (many men have also been subjected to this god-playing by governments and NGOs).
But there is a case, though, for forced sterilisation.
Some people simply have no business spawning their progeny from their abysmally shallow gene pool and subjecting humanity to their idiocy.
Take, for instance, those people who would today have us believe that the best thing that can happen to Zimbabwe is for pro-American, anti-nationalist, and allegedly corrupt politicians to take over the reins of power.
Such people have no right to sire children and perpetuate their degeneracy for future generations to have to suffer over.
Reports have been published about alleged corruption, abuse of office and influence-peddling by our Vice-President.
And suddenly the self-appointed guardians of transparency do not want such allegations to be investigated.
Their hatred of Robert Mugabe is such that they would rather shield alleged crimes as long as it serves to get rid of our President and usher into office a group of politicians whose leanings are increasingly suspect, politicians who would quickly undo all that the First Secretary has done to give this nation dignity.
And a lot of this arises from an abysmal dearth in historical awareness, with some sections of the media today trying to make gods out of men who at independence preferred to align themselves with our former colonisers to oppose Zanu-PF.
It is a matter of historical record that some of the people who have made it their duty to surround our Vice-President have long-hated Robert Mugabe, have long-cherished his demise, and have long slaved for that end.
Today they are draped in new and unfitting robes of royalty that do little to cover the nakedness of their disloyalty and the scars of their sordid past.
Anyone who tries to block investigations into corruption for purposes of shameless political expediency, and anyone who tries to create false gods for us, surely deserves to be sterilised so that the world is spared their chicanery.
Unfortunately, Zimbabwe has become so steeped in factionalism that many cannot separate politics from due processes of rule of law.
Just a few months ago these same sections of the media were screaming for arrests in relation to various crimes of commission and omission involving vast sums of money and patently criminal and manifestly inept public officials.
Today they decry investigations into alleged corruption because they want to achieve dubious political ends.
Away with their fertility! Off with their cojones!
There can never be any justification for both promoting lawlessness and rewriting history so that we massage the already inflated egos of politicos who think they are the be-all and end-all of Zimbabwe.
Like Brutus and his Rome, we must show that we love Zimbabwe more than we purport to love certain individuals.
