…in Manicaland, Cde Chimene is guilty as charged
The First Ladyai??i??s statements are being twisted around and there is need to protect her before its too late. The Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Cde Ignatius Chombo has to take a tour of Harareai??i??s CBD to understand what I am talking about.
JUST a quick one before plunging into todayai??i??s sermon. It looks like the Zanu-PF national spokesperson, Cde Simon Khaya Moyo needs a few lessons on how to handle the media.
Bishop Lazarus
For reasons that this poor Bishop has not really understood, Cde Khaya Moyo seems to have mastered the unfortunate art of embarrassing himself by responding to whatever nonsense that the private media would have spewed.
This Bishop is fully aware that Cde Khaya Moyo must be under some pressure after claims by the not-so-wise old man Didymus Mutasa that the party spokesperson was part of the ai???gamatox cabal.ai??? While the pressure is understandable, someone need to whisper into Cde Khaya Moyoai??i??s ears that being the partyai??i??s spokesperson does not mean speaking without end.
Some of Cde Khaya Moyoai??i??s responses are backfiring on him but this poor Bishop would not really care if the words were only eating their owner. What is worrying is that the words are now beginning to eat the party, Zanu-PF and so a bit of some silence from the spokesperson would be welcome.
To Cde Khaya Moyo – let the dogs bark. Dogs will be dogs. Donai??i??t give them the pleasure of a response.
From the party spokesperson, allow me dear reader to sound out my good brother Cde Saviour ai???Tysonai??? Kasukuwere, the Zanu-PF national commissar. We all agree that ai???Tysonai??i??sai??? job was never going to be easy. The young commissar took over that hot seat as Zanu-PF was embarking on an unprecedented cleansing exercise and so the landmines were scattered all over the place.
As he navigated his way through the landmines, all eyes were on the youthful commissar and he tried his level best to balance the politics.
In fact, if the truth is to be told, Cde Kasukuwere has not been a disaster as some predicted. But this poor Bishop has a few words for this dear brother. The Mavis Gumbo and Terence Mukupe fight for Harare East constituency has not been handled well and its sending very wrong signals among other party cadres.
Cde Kasukuwere was and is supposed to stamp his authority, informed by the Zanu-PF position on the matter. At my church we would not allow the mess being witnessed in Harare East. Two Zanu-PF candidates contesting against each other in one constituency? No, no! Cde Kasukuwere that canai??i??t be.
Zanu-PF is known as a party that solves its issues and its a party that is known for taking firm decisions on any matter.
Why is Harare East proving to be so difficult? Canai??i??t you see that the opposition is enjoying the drama and you have given the private media business that they donai??i??t deserve?
Now dear reader let me turn to todayai??i??s sermon.
The sermon is in two parts – the first sermon is about the vendor mess in Harare which is happening under the false guise that its the First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe who gave the vendors the go-ahead to create chaos in the Central Business District. The second sermon is on another form of chaos that is beginning to take place on the farms and on that one, Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Mandi Chimene is guilty as charged. Allow the Bishop to preach!
You see, this Bishop has no short memory. While its true that the First Lady said local authorities should not terrorise vendors as they conduct their business in the CBD, this Bishop knows for certain that Dr Grace Mugabe did not say the vendors should be allowed to conduct their business right in front of banks.
The First Lady did not say the vendors can sell their products at whatever corner. And she certainly did not give the vendors the go-ahead to roast maize right in the CBD. No, no, no, no, no SHE NEVER SAID THAT! NO!
The chaos in Harareai??i??s CBD is really worrying and if its not stopped it will spiral out of control. Before we know it, Harareai??i??s CBD will become an enlarged version of Mbareai??i??s Siyaso. At the rate at which things are getting out of control, we shouldnai??i??t be surprised to see tomato and vegetable farmers from Mutoko offloading their products right in First Street. The situation is that bad.
This poor Bishop thinks something really bad is going on underground and the Zanu-PF Government has to be very, very careful. Something tells me the Harare City authorities are playing some dirty games. Harareai??i??s CBD canai??i??t be turned into some Mbare Musika while the authorities watch.
Minister Chombo has to quickly protect the First Lady by making sure that the Harare City Council restores order in the CBD.
While Zanu-PF may be thinking that those vendors translate to employment creation, the same vendors may one day come back to bite the ruling party. Being forwarned is being forarmed!
Now to the second sermon. The Zanu-PF-led land reform programme has largely been a success and surveys have been done to confirm this assertion.
The Government has moved to the second phase of trying to improve productivity on the farms and this exercise has been going on very well.
However, something worrying is happening on the farms and Zanu-PF has to deal with the cancer. This poor Bishop is neither a ai???gamatoxai??? nor a ai???weevilai??? but whatai??i??s happening at the farms belonging to Temba Mliswa and Didymus Mutasa is just too unfortunate.
Granted – Mliswa and Mutasa breached party rules and Zanu-PF rightly took the decision to fire them, but I think the party is shooting itself in the foot by allowing some of its members to chase away the two from their farms.
First, by chasing away Mliswa and Mutasa from their farms, Zanu-PF is slowly making the two victims and whether we like it or not, there are some people who always want to side with victims. So by chasing the two from their farms, Zanu-PF could be campaigning for the two.
However, the above reason is not as worrying as the second one. You see, enemies of the land reform programme have all along been looking for excuses to discredit the exercise and whatai??i??s happening to Mliswa and Mutasa is the stuff that the prophets of doom have been dying to see.
The land reform programme is now being portrayed as chaotic and how can one defend this conclusion ai???if they can do this to these two who were once comrades?ai???
And more worringly, what message is the party sending? ai???If you are against us, no land for you.ai??? Is this what Zanu-PF wants?
And tomorrow if the tables turn, so anyone in power can chase anyone from their farm? Food for thought for the ruling party.
In Manicaland, Cde Chimene has taken the issue too far. She wants to take over Mutasaai??i??s farm. Come comrades! This is not the revolution!
This poor Bishop would forgive Cde Chimene if she had taken Mutasaai??i??s farm and parcel it out to other people from the province who failed to get land during the fast-track land reform exercise.
Mutasa is saying a lot of hogwash in the private media. He deserved to be fired from the party. If he had multiple farms and if he gave some of the farms to his cronies, surely the party should reclaim the farms, but Cde Chimene should exercise a bit of restraint.
