Since time immemorial, we the men of the cloth have always played some mediating role in politics.
Dear reader, I think before itai??i??s too late, the church should play its role in this lovely country of ours. God guide us and protect us.
Now back to Romans 12:17-21: ai???Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honourable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ai???Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.ai??? To the contrary, ai???if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.ai??? Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.ai??? Glory be to God!
As I begin this sermon, let me ask a pertinent question – Yes, Mai Mujuru and her cabal are facing serious allegations which can lead to their arrest and conviction and yes, Didymus Mutasa and Rugare Gumbo are acting ai???stupid and reckless,ai??? but is there room for forgiveness for those among this cabal who may want to repent genuinely?
I am a mere Bishop and was just wondering. Letai??i??s say some among the cabal want to show that they accept that they were wrong to be part of whatever they are being accused of, is there room for forgiveness? If there is room for forgiveness, what should these people do?
Surely, there has to be room for forgiveness because these are Zimbabweans who, we all agree were very wrong in planning to unconstitutionally unseat the President and cause havoc in Zanu-PF.
Maybe I am rushing things and my apologies if I am doing that, but you see, as a Bishop I think we need to ai???heap burning coals on their heads.ai??? It maybe too early because tensions and emotions are still running high, but I think Zanu-PF should leave a bit of room for its prodigal sons.
In Shona they say ai???hakuna musha usina benzi.ai??? Zanu-PF has identified ai???mapenzi mumusha mayo,ai??? and if among these ai???mapenzi,ai??? there are some who are prepared to come clean, I think the party should welcome such people.
I am saying this because 2018 is fast approaching and the party should start mending its rifts now.
You see, I am not a politician so I really donai??i??t know the other undercurrents, but whatever the case, at some point all concerned parties will have to sit down and iron out their differences.
While delivering a lecture to students of the Joint Command and Staff Course Number 28 at the Zimbabwe Staff College last Thursday, the Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, Professor Jonathan Moyo, said something that really touched me.
ai???In this particular case, the only response that will be commensurate with the challenge is for us for the first time as a country, to move away from preoccupation with State politics into more preoccupation with service delivery.
ai???The only answer to these people is to ensure that the electoral mandate that the President got from the voters when the time of assessing it comes in the next 36 months or so has been fulfilled and it can only be fulfilled through service delivery,ai??? said the minister.
Unfortunately, that lecture was not for poor Bishops like me. I wish I was there to pat him on the back. You see there is something about Prof Moyo – whether you like him or not, when he speaks you will listen because he speaks sense.
So itai??i??s about 36 months to go for the next elections?
Time is really running out and Zanu-PF has to put its house in order. Indeed, service delivery is the only answer to the chaos that Didymus and Rugare are dreaming of.
It really would be good to take away all the good people who had been misled by these two old timers and show them that they are alone in their hopeless machinations. Maybe I am taking Christianity too far, but I think there are some people among the cabal who would want to repent and continue working for the party.
But let me make myself very clear – investigations into all the allegations have to be done and those found on the wrong side of the law should face the music. The party should not let off the hook people who are guilty and people who want to cause havoc in the country.
If I am talking about forgiveness when itai??i??s too soon, forgive me – itai??i??s a weakness in many Bishops.
We donai??i??t want to see people fighting. We would rather feed the enemy and we would rather give the enemy water.
At this time, I prefer the church to play its mediation role in politics. At church we talk peace.
Itai??i??s only Prophet Magaya who at a time the church should be preaching peace, is busy attacking fellow Christians – Mapositori. For what reason, nobody knows.
