THE Mighty Zambezi Bonfire is back.

The inaugural event was held in 2019 and lived up to its billing, attracting hundreds of merrymakers.

The event, which was a first of its kind, transformed the Donnybrook Race Park into a glowing night spot.

But follow-up editions could not take place as the outdoor event was put on hold for the past two years due to coronavirus-induced lockdowns. However, organisers have since announced the much-awaited return.

“The Mighty Zambezi Lager Bonfire is back and will be held on August 13, 2022 at Donnybrook Park Arcturus in Harare, starting at 3pm,” said Delta Beverages marketing manager Kundayi Mawenda.

“This year’s edition is dubbed ‘Ignite’ as the bonfire event will be centred around a grand spectacle fire lighting ceremony, where we ignite what is, the country’s largest 10 metres x 10 metres bonfire, in celebration of the might and beauty of the great outdoors.”

The bonfire event is a perfect platform for partygoers to network while enjoying good music, food and drinks.Local artistes among them Holy Ten, Djembe Monks, Tammy Moyo, The Travellers, Shanku Chante, Ryan Synth and Naida will provide entertainment.

“There will be lots of exciting outdoor activities to participate in with premium prizes to be won,” added the organisers.

Some of the revellers that attended the last edition said this was a must attend event.

“We do not usually have events of this nature in the country. The last edition was well organised and we hope the organisers will outdo themselves this time around. I’m definitely attending with my fans,” said Sheila Mataure.

Drinks will be sold at “pump price” and merrymakers are not allowed to bring personal supply into the venue.

Tickets for the event are already on sale on various online platforms.
