THE Zimbabwe Republic Police Harare Province presented Christmas gifts to widows and orphans of late police officers during the Commissioner General of Police Church Service last Wednesday.

The beneficiaries who were drawn from Harare Province received grocery hampers and stationery.

Speaking at the church service which was conducted at Morris Depot, Officer Commanding Police Harare Province, Senior Assistant Commissioner Elias Mvere said although Christmas is a time to give, people can assist the needy all the time.

“The Christmas holiday gives us time as an organisation to remember those who need our love and care,” said Snr Ass Comm Mvere.

This programme has become an integral part of the ZRP calendar. Snr Ass Comm Mvere said the annual event cements ties within the police force.

Harare Metropolitan Province spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi said the police require God’s guidance in the execution of their duties.

“Police officers are human beings, they need to be guided. This service helps us execute our duties fairly and effectively.

“The laws that are used to maintain peace and order come from God therefore we need guidance,” Ass Insp Chazovachiyi said.
