ZPC KARIBA battled for a point against visiting Chiredzi FC at Gwanzura Stadium yesterday to continue as the only unbeaten team in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

The home side ended the game a man short following the dismissal of Luckmore Makura five minutes before half time. Their coach Saul Chaminuka, was also ejected from the bench by referee Nomore Musundire, for his outrageous protests against Makura’s warranted dismissal.

Makura was sent off after committing a second bookable offence.
The visitors drew first blood from the spot in the 48th minute through midfielder Wellington Kamudyariwa but the lead did not last long as the hustling Artwell Nyamiwa equalised seven minutes later.

ZPC Kariba remain fifth on the log with 21 points while Chiredzi FC remain rooted at the bottom with seven points.
A furious Chaminuka alleged that there are deliberate moves to end his team’s unbeaten run. He not mince his words in the post match interview.

“This was all pre-planned. I suspect there is a deliberate move which involves even the referees aimed at ending our unbeaten run. I am not happy at all, we could have won this game, but that is Zimbabwean football for you. It did not start today and I get this feeling that we are becoming the unwanted team,” he said.

Chiredzi FC coach Moses “Bambo” Chunga defended the match officials and was satisfied with the away draw although he felt his team could have buried ZPC in the first half.

“I did not see anything wrong with the way the match was handled. The referee is better positioned to make these decisions.
“The problem we have is that some people want to be the coach, the referee and the linesman. But you can’t be everything, stick to your duties as coach,” Bambo said.
