Religion Writer —
BUDDING gospel artiste, Lucia Zimunya, is set to launch her album on Saturday with Michael Mahendere as one of her supporting acts.

Zimunya is an AFM member. She is ecstatic about the launch of “Ndiri Mukundi” which she says is testimony to how she overcame the challenges of growing in a broken family.

“If I look back where I have come from, I can see that God has raised me. I have conquered through God. I grew up in a broken family, you know it’s not easy for a girl child to live without a mother but we conquered so many challenges.

“When our parents separated, we were two and we grew up like that,” said Zimunya.

The mother of three honoured her husband Kuziva for supporting her project.

“I started singing when I was in the school choir. However, I felt that I wasn’t good enough. When I got married, I realised I could do it.

“In September 2016, God told me that I had to sing and with faith on December 28, we recorded “Ndiri Mukundi”.

With her group, Spirit of Worship, Zimunya realised the birth of an eight track album which consists of praise and worship songs whose messages are premised on her life experiences.

“The eight tracks include ‘Chinyarara moyo wangu’ which is a dedication to my mum and uncle who both passed on in 2013. It was not easy for me and this song comforted my heart whenever I sang it.

“Una vanhu vako Mwari speaks of God being with His people when they go through the waters, while “Chinjikano” professes the peace found on the cross of calvary.

“Then there is ‘Tsitsi hedzi dzomira dzega’ which also bears testimony of Jesus’ sacrifice to carry our sins while ‘Jesu ndanga ndakurasa’ narrates about a person who had strayed into the world and came back again.”

Inspired by the love of God, Zimunya said the track ‘Ndinosimudaishe’ professes the love for God as the centre of a person’s life, whether one is happy or sad.

“The experiences and the love of God inspires me. Because when I look back there is nothing I can give Him that will be sufficient. But I can give my life as a living sacrifice to Him. This so that everyday my life is a testimony and its praising Him,” she said.

Other gospel artistes set to perform at the launch are Nyasha Chiangwa and Abigail Dhemba.
