BORN and raised in Zimbabwe, my name is Farayi Chabvamuperu. I am currently residing in Belgium and doing my Bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management at Eastern Mediterranean University in Cyprus.
I am an upcoming sportsman and my sights are set on the next Olympics and to represent my precious country Zimbabwe in decathlon.
From a tender age, I enjoyed being in recreational activities and that is where my love, heart, passion, vision for athleticism began so few years down the line I decided to take it seriously and be committed in being a track runner and in field events as a thrower.
I focused mainly on shot put and javelin throwing, 200m and 4x100m. As my skill improved, I joined the athletics club called Speedynamics and with much hard work I was counted amongst best athletes to represent the Zimbabwean national team and was, by then, the youngest team member in the Zimbabwean National Team.
At the moment am a member of an athletics club in Merksem Antwerp (Belgium) which is called OSLE Athletics Club .I had the privilege of joining various competitions in different countries: Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Mauritius, Swaziland, France, Belgium, Germany and Cyprus to name a few. Along the road, I have received numerous certificates, several gold medals, silver medals and some bronze medals.
I am currently benefiting from a 100 percent sports scholarship from my university which I mentioned above. I’m thankful for all the good fortune from God, I work extra hard and continue to excel. I have been blessed with a very supportive family, friends and team mates who have been a monumental pillar of strength in my athletics career.
Word to the wise: In the point of fully watching your hard-work pay off, the late nights and early morning training will truly be worth it. If you have goals and dreams that you need to reach, do not stop until they come true. No pain, no gain!
Hardship is necessary in order to achieve your goal. Keep God by your side be faithful, honest, respectful, obedient, work harder day and night and be disciplined.
