THE impasse between the Zimbabwe Football Association and the Premier Soccer League yesterday took its first steps towards a resolution when the mother body resolved to come to the table and finally put an end to the current relegation debacle.

The Zifa Executive Committee met in the capital yesterday, during which a variety of issues were discussed, chief amongst them the current relegation impasse.

“It is the decision of the board that we have to find a way to move forward and finally put the whole relegation issue to bed,’ said Zifa president Philip Chiyangwa.

“As far as we are concerned, the matter has been resolved.

“We have agreed with the PSL that we appoint a special committee that will be mandated with putting the issue to bed.

‘There are suggestions, on possible routes to take, but it will be up to the committee to sit down and come up with a resolution and course of action,’ he said.

The committee will be made up of members from both Zifa and the PSL’s emergency committee.

“From Zifa, the committee will comprise of the four regional chairpersons, with Piraishe Mabena elected chairman.

“The committee will also include members of the PSL Emergency Committee namely Kenny Mubaiwa, Lewis Uriri and Lovemore Matsikinyidze,” he said.

Among the other resolutions made was the decision to lift the suspension on Caps United’s chairperson Lewis Uriri. The door has also been opened for the possible return of Edzai Kasinayo, Ian Gorowa and Nation Dube

“The board also resolved to lift the suspension placed on advocate (Lewis) Uriri.

‘We are also actively entertaining the possibility of reviewing Edzai Kasinauyo, Ian Gorowa and Nation Dube.

‘I know Edzai (Kasinauyo) was recently acquitted but I wish to state that his acquittal is in no way related to the way of looking at things.

‘We are more concerned with behavior and the seriousness of their offence.

“At the moment, I am making consultations and will announce my findings in due course,” he said.

The trio of Rushwaya, Dube and Kasinauyo are currently serving bans from football activities for their alleged part in the infamous Limpopogate scandal.

Rushwaya, together with Jonathan Musavengana, were banned for life, while Kasinauyo and Dube were each handed ten-year bans. However, the trio of Rushwaya, Dube and Kasinauyo were last week acquitted.

Commenting on the fate of both Rushwaya and Musavengana, Chiyangwa said, “There is no chance for Henrietta Rushwaya and Jonathan Musavengana to return to local football administration or involvement.

“They are banned for life and nothing will change that,” he said.
