Zanu-PF will soon receive performance reports for the first quarter of 2014 from its Members of the House of Assembly in order to review progress made to date, the party’s national chairman, Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo, has said.
Speaking at the commissioning of Nyarushanga Road Bridge in Buhera South yesterday, Ambassador Khaya Moyo said the reports will help the party to monitor the pace of development in the country.
The bridge, which was swept away by floods in 2008, was reconstructed to the tune of US$60 000 by the constituency’s legislator, Cde Joseph Chinotimba.
“Let me just remind you that as Zanu-PF, we have decided to cause all Members of Parliament to submit quarterly performance reports in order to review progress made in meeting the people’s needs, aspirations and expectations.
“Very soon, we will be expecting such reports for the first quarter of 2014. It is therefore important to keep in touch with the people for effective collaborative success at the local level, which is a critical input into the national economic blueprint, Zim Asset.”
Ambassador Khaya Moyo praised Cde Chinotimba for speedily championing development projects in his constituency. “This project is a clear illustration of determination and commitment.
“Cde Chinotimba is energetic and hard working and this is supported by the fact that this is not the only project he has successfully embarked on in his short six-month stint as Member of Parliament.
“He has also been able to grade most roads in this constituency, thereby making them more user-friendly to motorists. For the record, it is informative to mention that this road here, the Mutiusinazita-Chapanduka road, was graded for the first time in about 27 years.
“All these developments are already beginning to yield positive socio-economic impacts. These highly trafficable roads, together with the critical link provided by this bridge, mean that both passenger traffic and transporters of goods and services are already benefiting immensely and real development activities are in motion.
“The man (Cde Chinotimba) has constantly kept in touch with the constituency grassroots and has thus set a good example to other Members of Parliament.”
He urged party supporters to shun factionalism as this will divide the party, reiterating that senior party officials in organs such as the Politburo and National Consultative Assembly must not interfere with provincial party operations.
“The provincial chairperson steers activities in the province and those in the Politburo must respect their work. As President Mugabe has said, let’s abide by the party’s constitution, which clearly sets out the roles of those in positions,” he said.
Several Members of the House of Assembly in Manicaland attended the commissioning.
These include Cdes Munacho Mutezo, Monica Mutsvangwa, Oliver Mandipaka, Ronald Muderedzwa, Enock Porusingazi, Win Mlambo and Samuel Undenge.
