Zanu PF Midlands Province has commenced hearings for the three provincial members who are being accused of allegedly denigrating and denouncing Government ministers in public and accusing them of being Generation 40 members.
Sports and Recreation Minister Makhosini Hlongwane, Tourism and Hospitality Deputy Minister Anastasia Ndlovu and Civil Service, Labour and Social Welfare Deputy Minister Tapiwa Matangaidze filed a complaint with the party’s commissariat alleging harassment by fellow provincial members following their recent appointments into Government.
The party’s national commissar, Cde Saviour Kasukuwere called for an investigation of the provincial secretary for security, Owen “Mudha” Ncube; provincial youth chairperson, Edmore Samambwa and the provincial youth league secretary for administration, Justice Mayor Wadyajena over the alleged misconduct.
He instructed the province to set up a disciplinary committee that would preside over the matter no later than January 11, 2016.
The disciplinary committee was tasked to investigate and deliberate on the matter before making recommendations.
However, it is understood that the province sought more time to deal with the issue.
Midlands provincial chairman, Cde Kizito Chivamba said the hearings were scheduled for this weekend. “I am not the right person to comment over such matters at the moment because I do not want to interfere.
“Deputy chairman, Cde Daniel Mackenzie Ncube is the one who should be giving official statements to the media as far as the hearings are concerned. However, I was advised that the hearings would be conducted over this weekend,” he said. Impeccable sources told our sister paper Sunday News that the three ministers were summoned yesterday while the accused will be summoned for hearing today.
“The hearings will be conducted at the provincial offices tomorrow (today). The three ministers were summoned today (yesterday),” said the source.
It is alleged that during a meeting at the provincial party office, Cde Ncube chanted slogans that denigrated the trio, Cde Kasukuwere, Cde Patrick Zhuwawo and Professor Jonathan Moyo. Cde Wadyajena allegedly accused Cde Matangaidze and his colleagues of being part of the G40 cabal.
In a letter to the national secretary for the commissariat which is undersigned by the trio, the ministers wrote: “Since the appointments, we have been under incessant attacks from Owen Mudha Ncube (secretary for security in the Midlands Province, Justice Mayor Wadyajena (secretary for administration in the Midlands youth league), Edmore Samambwa (The youth provincial chairman) and other members of the Youth League who allege our appointments were G40-motivated.
“Cde Ncube once chanted slogans during a meeting at the party office where he said, “Pasi naMatangaidze, pasi naMakhosini Hlongwani, pasi naAnastasia Ndlovu, pasi naKasukuwere, pasi naZhuwao, pasi naJonathan Moyo,” reads part of the letter.
The trio further alleged that they have been threatened with violence by Cde Ncube and his “hired” thugs.
“It must be pointed out that the idea of clubbing all ministers in the Midlands province into submission is designed to remove their loyalty from President Robert Mugabe to submit them to an alternative narrative.”
