YOUNG Scientists’ Club consists of practical scientists, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics and Accounts students and I joined that club because it has practical advantages.

We take out concepts into practical solutions and apply what we have learnt. Our key job is to solve problems practically.

The main problem is the cost of detergents at our school and our solution to this problem is practical, simple ways of making these products.

The products which we have made include an air freshener, which is currently in use in the gents and boys toilets and in the reception area. Our detergents include hand sanitisers, toilets cleaners and multi-purpose cleaners which are being used to wash the teachers’ cars at this campus. Our future prospect is to cut down on the overall cost of detergents, with improved quality.

You may be asking how? We have cultured bacteria in the lab and tested the effectiveness of our detergents and the results were outstanding.

We have also spoiled sink basins with KMnO4 and the detergents worked well.

They have a great smell musking ability.

We have managed to extract some essential oils from natural plants and fruits like lemons and oranges to give a pleasant scent and beautify our detergents.

We aim to use the detergents at school and at home. Soon they will be on the market after certification from the responsible authorities.
