Worship is a lifestyle, not a Sunday event

I believe in worship. Wherever God has placed you, that is where He has called you to worship Him from. If you are a teacher, banker, farmer, lawyer, politician or soldier, worship God in your workplace.

A destitute person used to sit by the entrance to a certain church, yet the church didn’t seem concerned, until a certain lady intervened. After offering her assistance, the lady confronted her pastor on why the church had not helped the person. The pastor calmly reminded her that she was the church and therefore the church had played its part.

The nation you want is closer than you imagine. The Body of Christ (comprised of disciplined followers of Christ), has not yet reconciled itself to the reality that it is the answer to its own prayers.

Let me highlight that this article is by no means an attempt to discredit any past efforts towards nation building by our leaders, be they national or civic. The purpose of this article is to provoke thought and further action. The Body of Christ is an efficient and effective agent for nation building. The time has now come for the Body to fully embrace its God given assignment to extend the Kingdom of God here on earth.

Jesus was relevant to the issues of His day, even as He introduced solutions that would address past, present and future problems. He never diverted His focus from His father’s business — reconciling people to God.

Hence the Body must also be about the ministry of reconciliation. We must never forget that we are ambassadors of the Kingdom of God, placed here to reconcile God with His people. Significantly, when a person’s life is reconciled to God, this provides the key to a transformed marriage, family, community, nation, continent and world. Christians are to be salt and light wherever they are.

There is a misinformed view that the church must stay out of the realms of business, politics, education, and the like.

Christians are a part of diverse fields. Sadly, some are ‘undercover’ Christians in their workplaces. When l was national director of a parachurch organisation in Zimbabwe, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that there are numerous, genuine Christians in all spheres of life.

Surely the Biblical characters Daniel and Joseph would have approved. Praise God!

Yes! It is acceptable to worship God at work, as long as you observe the protocols of the workplace. Worship is a lifestyle, not a Sunday morning event. It involves helping to reconcile God with the people in your unique sphere of influence. Remember always — God requires Christians to worship Him every day, in every way and at all times via lifestyles that honour Him so that everyone may see their good deeds and praise our Father in Heaven. While this is easier said than done, it is possible with God’s help.

Dare to dream about what a nation that is reconciled with God would look like and start playing your part.
