Women are expected to meet at this year’s edition of the Council of African Apostles which is set to kick off on Wednesday in Harare.
The CAA is chaired by Bishop Tudor Bismark of New Life Ministries.
The women’s meeting is scheduled for Saturday morning and will be led by Pastor Chichi Bismark. It is expected to bring together women from the wide spectrum of the continental body.
Running under the theme ‘Expand’, the CAA is a gathering of Africa’s apostolic voices that discusses issues affecting the continent from the church’s perspective and proffer solutions.
On top of the council’s agenda is Africa’s financial, political and spiritual future, among other issues.
The council will look at ways of expanding the church’s influence on Government, social and private sector policies, assist in intellectual property and innovation issues as well as promote infrastructural development.
“Previously, the council has explored subjects that have heightened the need for the Church to remain unwaveringly principled and centred on Christ yet actively aware of the realities of the world, economically, socially and politically. It is essential that we place as front and centre Jesus Christ in all of life on the continent if we are to be effective,” read the statement from the CAA secretariat.
In 2014, the CAA adopted Africa Day as the day when all members across the continent preach the same message.
“We all preach the same thing, the non-negotiables of our faith as a first step in placing Jesus Christ back as the centre core and focus of the Christian faith.
“In the face of the onslaught on core fundamentals of what we believe, what it means to be saved, to be a Christian, Christ like, we felt it essential to make a bold statement and return our focus to the basics of what we believe.
“The council remains steadfast in its focus on the continent with a renewed vigour on locating the Church. The cascade effect is that every Christian in every church in every nation of Africa will be empowered to be the change agent in their environment.”
Executive members who include Dr Mensa Otabil (Ghana), Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams (Ghana), Bishops Enock Sitima (Botswana) and Mike Okonkwo (Nigeria), among others are expected to attend.
