STUDENTS in The Harare City Junior Council embarked on a noble endeavour codenamed “Million Pads Campaign” where they aim to raise a million packs of sanitary wear to be donated to the less privileged girls.
The campaign also included chances to win prizes for people who donated towards the noble cause. And to that end, The Million Pads Campaign raffle draw is finally here.

The draw will be held at the Harare City Townhouse on the 10th of August 2018 from 1000hours and the Harare City Junior Council cordially invites all interested to this extraordinary event.

Prizes to be won are phones, grocery hampers, airtime vouchers and a dinner for two. We feel honoured and grateful as the Harare City Junior Council to all those who supported immensely in spreading a million joys to the girl child.

Launched in April 2017, the Million Pads Campaign was also aimed at breaking taboos and misconceptions around menstrual health by raising awareness on the importance of good menstrual hygiene management and provision for women and adolescent girls world-wide and the general uplifting of women through provision of their basic health rights.

It began as a very small project to supply Harare, but we ended up seeing different organisations taking interest and coming on board to partner with us to make it an international campaign.

The Million pads campaign started with the selling of raffle draw tickets in the Central Business District and Avondale, then the launch of the padathon in August 2017 where we had Dr. Philip Chiyangwa donate $1000 towards the  campaign. We also made company visitations seeking donations in cash and kind.

The Million pads campaign celebrated it’s first year on 28 May 2018 #MenstrualHygieneDay, a day which is celebrated globally.

To celebrate this day Harare City Junior Council Million pads campaign made available over 1000 pads to its distribution partners Girls R Us and ZiMwana Worldwide for distribution at Mutimusakwa School in Mhondoro and Ruwa Vocational training centre.

On the 23rd of June 2018 the Harare City Junior Council Million pads campaign donated sanitary pads to Danai Children’s home and Rose of Sharon children’s home in Ruwa. This was an ecstatic  experience as we managed to put a smile on the faces of many girls.

To date, with help from individuals and various organisations the Harare City Junior Council Million pads campaign has managed to raise 25 425  packs of sanitary pads.

The Million Pads Campaign thanks you for your contribution and participation towards improving the welfare of girls and women in Zimbabwe. Together we can spread a million joys one pad at a time.
