Look, Joice and Morgan should just go to bed, I mean politically, and stop courting each other ad infinitum. They should get on with it (what with all the darkness, thanks to Zesa) and see what their political mating will produce. Meanwhile, will someone please wake up Dr Samuel Undenge?
Remember Genesis 6-9? That story about Noahai??i??s Ark? Can you imagine what could have happened if, after been warned of the coming floods, Noah had looked the other way and ignored Godai??i??s advice to build the ark?
Now, this Bishop thinks the Minister of Energy and Power Development, Dr Samuel Undenge is really looking the other way when the country is fast plunging into a power crisis.
His silence with regards to the power shortages is just too deafening.
The last time that Dr Undenge said something worth remembering to the media was when he shocked many Zimbabweans at the end of July this year, saying he was not aware of the fuel crisis that had grounded Air Zimbabwe because he was out of town.
Right-thinking Zimbabweans laughed their lungs out.
Out of town?
Or out of his senses?
So he was not aware of the fuel crisis because he was out of town?
The important minister was supposed to be in Harare to know about the fuel crisis?
In this day and age with all the technology, the important minister was supposed to be in Harare to know about the crisis?
Was that circus really necessary at a time when the countryai??i??s national airliner was grounded?
That was a sick joke from the learned minister.
Now the country is faced with the power crisis and this Bishop has genuine fears that may be the minister is out of town and as a result, he is not aware of the electricity shortages. What do we do now?
May be we just wait till he comes back to town. From there we see how things go.
Reading The Herald yesterday, Bishop Lazarus was left worried, in fact alarmed.
ZESA Holdings announced a tight load-shedding schedule that will see towns across the country without power between 4am and 10pm almost everyday.
As if thatai??i??s not scary enough, Zesa had the audacity to add: ai???In the event of further deterioration of the current available power supply, the level and duration of load-shedding may go beyond the advertised schedules.ai???
Put simply, Zesa is saying the situation can only get worse but after going from 4am to 10pm without electricity, what else does Zesa want to do?
Switch off the country for days?
You see, Dr Undenge may be out of town so he may not be aware of this power crisis. We really need to wait in the dark.
Like really waiting in the dark, literally.
But why is Dr Undenge so much at ease?
Why is he appearing as if everything is normal and why isnai??i??t the power shortage worrying him?
If he is worried, why isnai??i??t he showing it?
Zimbabweans are tired and fed up of the press releases and adverts from Zesaai??i??s public relations department explaining the electricity shortages. That department has done enough.
Now itai??i??s time for the real boss, the minister himself to come out and tell the nation whatai??i??s really going on.
Dr Undenge owes Zimbabweans a good explanation and that explanation is late already. But we surely can do with a belated explanation.
Dear reader, have you ever seen how some of these ministers go out of their way to land a ministerial post.
They do all sorts of crazy stuff but then soon after being appointed, some of them think the job is done, yet the job is just starting.
Bishop Lazarus knows Dr Undenge is one of those who went to the moon and back when he was appointed as a minister and the hope is that he knows as Professor Jonathan Moyo once put it, the one ai???who appoints can also disappoint.ai???
May be a quick reminder can tickle Minister Undenge into action.
Once upon a time, there was an important man called Andrew Langa. Quiet a good fella, this Langa.
This Langa guy was taken to far away lands to watch the beautiful game and when he came back, his hands were tied.
The beautiful game was taking a nose dive in the country and the source of all this was well-known.
Even Langa was aware of the source, but then he had gone to Brazil.
Langaai??i??s deputy at the ministry, Mrs Tabetha Kanengoni-Malinga was angry with developments that were taking place at Zifa and as someone not in anyoneai??i??s pocket, she breathed fire.
She was a pain and Cuthbert Dube must have heaved a big sigh of relief when she was promoted to the VPai??i??s Office.
But then, disaster struck.
Like a bolt from the blue, Langa was booted out of the ministry and in came the energetic Mr Makhosini Hlongwane.
Well, Dube better run. He better run very fast because Mr Hlongwane knows what needs to be done.
And Mr Hlongwane is running fast, some even fear he is in over-speed, so if Dube is to run, then he has to make Usain Bolt look like an amateur and we all know thatai??i??s not an easy task.
But my point here is that, Langa failed to do the obvious and he woke up with no job.
Dr Undenge has to do the obvious. And the obvious is to come out into the open to explain the power shortages and telling people what his ministry is doing exactly to solve the problem.
This pomposity of taking a back seat when the country is going through such a tough time makes people to start believing stories. There is this story that a former minister at that ministry got a house as a gift. That gift zipped his mouth shut as dirty things happened. Bishop Lazarus is not in the mood to name names for now.
So Dr Undenge has to show he is in charge and he has to show Zimbabweans that he is not sleeping on the wheels.
Zesa is warning of more load-shedding and surely it canai??i??t be work as normal at the Ministry of Energy and Power Development. There is nothing normal about this abnormal situation.
