AWARD winning American movie producer Stephen Kendrick will on Thursday visit the country for a fundraising initiative organised by Celebration Ministries International in partnership with Malvern Hunda.

Kendrick produced “War Room”, a movie that created interest amongst locals since its release late last year. The Christian movie claimed first position on America Box Office last year and its plot focuses on the power of prayer.

Kendrick will be part of a family weekend that will kick start with an open event to the public on Friday night.

A half day seminar themed “Fireproof” will be hosted on Saturday before the main fundraising event on the night of the same day.

Hunda, who is organising the event, said the initiative is meant to support Celebration Ministries International’s Project Relocation.

“Kendrick is here to help us raise money for Project Relocation, a program under Celebration Ministries International’s Compassion Ministry.

“This project is aimed at relocating orphans from their rural and dormitory-styled locations to cluster homes where they will have better access to education, church and other social facilities.

“The need for the cluster homes is necessitated by the laws passed by the Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe which prescribes minimum standards for child residential care.

“These standards require destitute children to be relocated to cluster homes. Moving them will expose them to better facilities which will enable them to embrace the modern world and possibly aspire to be leaders in society,” Hunda said.

He added that the event will centre on family building, hence its various themes to appeal to a wider audience.

“The Friday event will be free but those who come for the half day seminar will have to part with $25 per couple or $15 for the singles.

“The fundraising ball will bring together leaders in business, church and Government departments,” he said.

Celebration Ministries International is led by pastors Tom and Bonnie Deuschle.

Pastor Tom embarked on Project Relocation after he, together with some members of his church, reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro last year.
