THE Harare Volleyball Association has been running without a bank account in violation of its own constitution, an investigation by the national governing body has revealed. The Zimbabwe Volleyball Association has since appointed an interim executive that has been mandated with putting the HVL house in order within three months.
ZVA secretary general Tawanda Sithole said they were shocked with how the league was being run by the Shadreck Chisoko executive. The investigation into the affairs of HVA was instituted after Chisoko and his executive sent tongues wagging when they failed to hold their Annual General Meeting before the 31 December, 2016 deadline.
“The HVA was supposed to hold an elective AGM before the 31st of December, just like all the other provinces are supposed to. “Initially they wrote to the Zimbabwe Volleyball Association saying they would sit on December 27 for their AGM, but didn’t. HVA then decided to hold their AGM on January 13 this year but the constitution doesn’t allow that because their tenure expired on December 31st,” said Sithole. Sithole added that they were forced to appoint an interim committee to organise the elections after realising that there was a power vacuum at the HVA.
“During the hand over and take-over of office, you obviously do an audit and evaluation and to our surprise we found out the HVA didn’t even have a bank account and that is unconstitutional as well. “We have set up a six-member interim executive to be led by Mandlenkosi Ndlovu. lts sole mandate is to put order into the voting college in not more than three months. “As the mother body we have to monitor and make sure everything is going according to the constitution and if it’s not we step in,” Sithole said.
