Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Voice of Mbare — has teamed up with veteran producer Macdonald ‘Macdee’ Chidavaenzi and Pastor Michael Mahendere for their latest offing that will feature on their 14 track live DVD album set to be recorded next month in Harare. While the motivational song titled “Ndiri Mukundi/I am the winner” is already making waves on Star Fm Gospel Greats, it is the unique combination brought in by Macdee and Pastor Mahendere that has proved to be the icing on top of the cake.

In an interview with The Sunday Mail Religion, the group music director and composer of the song, Mr Enoch Chisale said they decided to work with Pastor Mahendere and Macdee as they are “geniuses at their art” in order to produce a quality product.

“We incorporated these two gospel music gurus because we wanted the song to reach as many people as possible,” he said.

Mr Chisale said he wrote the song in response to challenges that many Zimbabweans are facing in their day to day lives.

“Almost everyone is facing both physical and spiritual challenges but I was encouraged to pen “Ndiri Mukundi” from the biblical promise. This song encourages my brothers and sisters that the battle has been already won.”

“Each and every day we are confronted with different problems, be it social or economic, this is part of life. What is more important is to fight and keep on fighting, knowing that we are victors in Christ Jesus,” he said.

“The Bible in Isaiah 40 v 31 says, “But those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary and they shall walk and not faint.” That is the message in the song Ndiri Mukundi,” he said.

Mr Chisale has also written other songs for his group, these include “Fambai Neni”, “Anouya” and “Usanete”.

“We are striving to relate to the current situations affecting people in our generation and to achieve that, the group will not be confined to a single genre.

“We are planning to venture into many genres — sungura, Zim dancehall, worship, praise. Our aim is to reach as many people as possible through diversity.

“The Bible is our sole inspiration and the group will not dare to depart from its teaching,” he said.

Last year, the group featured renowned Malawian singer, Skeffa Mulongoti Chimoto, on three songs “Freedom”, “Nyasha” and “Ambuye Alinane” off their album “Flash Back”.

Formed in 1985, CCAP Voice of Mbare is a 15-male member group.

Its formation traces back to the church which has its roots in Malawian.

As a result, some of the tracks are recorded in Chewa.

The group recorded its first album “Nga Nga Nga” in 1996, “Ishe Makanaka” (1998), “Alemekezeke” (2002), “Kufamba naJesu” (2004), “Jesu Ndiye Wangu” (2006), “Mbiri Kuna Mwari” (2010) as well as “Kune Musha” and “Flash Back” (2015).
