UNKI Mine’s platinum production rose 7 percent to 66 000 ounces in the full year to December 31, 2015 from 62 000 ounces a year ago, helping push Anglo Platinum Mines (Amplats)’ output – its parent – up, according to a quarterly production report published Thursday.
However, in the three months to December, production climbed 20 percent to 19 000 ounces from a year ago.
In September last year, platinum prices dropped to $899,60 per ounce on the New York Mercantile Exchange, which was the lowest since December 2008.
On the overall, the basket price for platinum group of metals declined 21 percent to $1 905 per ounce.
