Zanu-PF National Political Commissar Cde Saviour Kasukuwere and Mashonaland Central Provincial Affairs Minister Advocate Martin Dinha nearly traded blows last week after the latter suggested the commissariat boss was immature and required ideological schooling.

This occurred at a no-holds-barred meeting in Bindura where a Presidential team was investigating intra-party tensions in Mashonaland Central.

Sources who attended the meeting told The Sunday Mail that it took the agility of Deputy Senate President Cde Chen Chimutengwende, a nimble-footed dancer, to separate the two.

According to the sources, Adv Dinha told the panel that Cde “Tyson” Kasukuwere was unfit to continue leading the commissariat “because of his unbridled ambition and self-proclaimed political thug status”.

Matters are said to have come to a head when Adv Dinha labelled Cde Kasukuwere “immature”. The latter leapt from his seat, charging towards the provincial head.

A source said: “Cde Dinha spoke first, and he did not pull the punches as he derided Kasukuwere, saying he was not fit to hold the office of political commissar given its significance to Zanu-PF. Kasukuwere came within a whisker of attacking Dinha as he was physically restrained by Central Committee member and Deputy Senate President Cde Chimutengwende.

“Dinha continued and went further to challenge Tyson to a fistfight, saying he was not afraid of his big body, which, he said, was harmless.”

Another said: “When Kasukuwere spoke, he reminded everyone that he was still the PC and that he still wields the axe. In full view of the probe team, he said he would fire Members of Parliament who wanted him sacked.

“He also boasted that Zanu-PF could not win elections if the party fired him.”

Cde Kasukuwere, Adv Dinha and Adv Jacob Mudenda, who chaired the meeting, could not be reached for comment yesterday.
