Hundreds of Twelve Apostles Church in Christ (TACC) congregants gathered at the Aquatic Complex in Chitungwiza recently for their annual Thanksgiving Service. Present at the two-day service was church leader Chief Apostle Caesar Nongqunga from South Africa, who urged Christians to be faithful to God at all times.

“When God was about to bless Moses, He didn’t come with power from Heaven but asked Moses what he possessed in his hand. We are here for thanksgiving to God for what He has given us. He gives power to what He has blessed you with and it is important to bring your soul to the source to be strengthened. I don’t care whether you believe or not; God will grant you your heart’s desires,” he said.

TACC originated in South Africa and has Zimbabwe branches in Harare, Bulawayo and Masvingo; as well as in Europe and the Americas.

“Very recently, evangelism has taken TACC to Ghana, India, Kenya and DRC,” reads a message on the church website. “For this reason the history of this church must be traced back to its founder and Head of the Church, Jesus Christ.

“The early Apostles were all persecuted, firstly under the Roman Empire, which led to their mission being conducted in secret with no record ever kept of the names of the Apostles, and thereafter, continued persecution, by the Roman Catholic Church, under charges of ‘heresy’, persecution that continued for over a thousand years. Persecution directed at anybody who dared to contradict the teachings of the ‘only’ church.

“The more modern roots of the Twelve Apostles Church in Christ are to be found in the Catholic Apostolic Church, founded in 1832 in England by John Bate Cardale, Henry Dalton, Henry Drummond and others.

“The movement quickly spread to Europe, particularly to Germany (the northern states) and The Netherlands. As a result of doctrinal differences in the church, schisms took place and out of these schisms what became known as the New Apostolic Church emerged.”
